My educational practice emerges from the same questions that guide my artistic work: how we listen, how we relate to one another, and how sound can reveal new ways of perceiving the world around us. Through teaching, workshops, and collaborative laboratories, I create spaces where listening becomes an active practice — a way of exploring creativity, attention, and our relationship with human and more-than-human environments.
Listening to the World — A Laboratory for Sound and Artistic Creation
Academia de Música de Cabeceiras de Basto
December 2025
Created and facilitated Listening to the World, an artistic pedagogical laboratory exploring deep listening, acoustic ecology, improvisation, and collective sound creation. Through soundwalks, improvisation exercises, and collaborative practices, participants explored the relationships between sound, body, space, and the more-than-human world.
Listening as Practice — A Pedagogical Toolkit
Developed as part of my artistic research, Listening as Practice is a bilingual pedagogical toolkit (Portuguese/English) exploring the intersections between acoustic ecology, deep listening, improvisation, and compositional practice.
The resource proposes a series of exercises and creative methodologies that encourage participants to approach listening as an active and embodied practice — not only as the perception of sound, but as a way of engaging with others, with the surrounding environment, and with the more-than-human world.
Drawing from the pedagogical approaches of acoustic ecology and contemporary experimental practices, the toolkit combines sound exploration, collective improvisation, soundwalking, and creative processes to develop attentive, critical, and imaginative relationships with sound. It is designed as an adaptable resource for educational, artistic, and community contexts, supporting different approaches to collaborative creation and sonic exploration.
Available in a bilingual version (Portuguese/English), Listening as Practice aims to provide a flexible framework that can be adapted to different groups, ages, and learning environments.
